Favorite referencing style
APA because it was the first style I used.
Why I became an editor
Being an avid reader since early childhood and studying in a number of academic areas, I have found a knack for writing and proofreading that continues to develop through my day job. Becoming a professional proofreader and editor is a way for me to help others in their own writing endeavours while allowing me to base myself anywhere in the world.
Background and experience
I have extensive academic experience in a number of disciplines at the postgraduate level with long-term, continuing experience in formal report, correspondence and administrative writing and proofreading as a government employee.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I enjoy helping writers create work of the highest quality, and seeing errors in a finished piece drives my anxiety up. I especially enjoy reading works in areas of politics, development and international affairs centred around the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific, and I have worked extensively with APA, Harvard and other referencing systems.
Favorite book:
‘Shantaram’ by Gregory David Roberts.
Hobbies:
I spend most of my time in, on or under the sea.
Editing tips:
My process is to do an initial read-through, followed by a review against a checklist and a final pass to ensure flow and clarity.
