Why I became an editor
I enjoy reading, and it’s rewarding to help make people's ideas, stories, and arguments stronger, more engaging, and read better.
Background and experience
I'm a science communicator working with children mostly, but I also write non-fiction books and write creatively. I have a degree in biomedical sciences (neuroscience) but have interests in many directions.
Why I love proofreading and editing
It's really rewarding to help others express their ideas clearly without the distraction of errors. I enjoy the feeling of confidence that proofreading and editing can give people in their own work.
Favorite book:
I love Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut. The “what would happen if…” question that it's based on is fascinating.
Hobbies:
I lead science workshops. It's great fun!
Editing tips:
Reading the work aloud can really help, especially when you think something might be wrong but you aren't sure what.
