Favorite referencing style
MHRA is my favourite referencing style because it is the one I am most familiar with, having used it in my dissertation.
Why I became an editor
I have always loved the written word and knew that I wanted to pursue a career in the publishing world. After completing my masters, I learned of the company Proofed and the opportunity they offered to become a proofreader. I realised what a fantastic chance this was and, after completing their course through Proofreading Academy, I was accepted to become part of their team of proofreaders.
Background and experience
I have a master's degree in history which involved writing a 15,000 word dissertation. I edited and proofread this myself.
I have also edited and proofread for authors.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I love making English sound and read flawlessly. I especially enjoy proofreading and editing anything on history, crime, and gender. I am a qualified TEFL teacher and so have experience in writing done by students whose first language is not English.

Editing tips:
When I first look at a document, I like to skim it over to gain an idea of what the piece is about. Then I proofread. I always leave referencing until the end.
