Favorite referencing style
MLA is my favoirte because it gives me that early aughts high school nostalgia!
Why I became an editor
I've always had a love for language and the written word. As a writer, I am constantly consuming new material—and finding errors along the way! My work as an editor, tutor, and ESL teacher gave me the opportunity to combine my love of language with helping others, all leading, inevitably, to proofreading!
Background and experience
I have worked professionally as an editor, private tutor, and ESL teacher.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I love helping people find clarity in their writing and create the strongest material possible! Proofreading is also a wonderful way to hear other unique voices and be exposed to interesting topics and arguments. Having worked extensively in screenwriting, I especially love editing creative work and helping people tell their most compelling story.
Favorite book:
The His Dark Materials trilogy by Phillip Pullman
Hobbies:
When I'm not proofreading, I'm usually working on my own writing, hanging out with my precocious nieces and nephews, or seeking out my next favorite natural wine!
Editing tips:
My first read is to gain a general sense of the content and author's voice. Then, it's time to get into the nitty gritty!
