Favorite referencing style
I have the most experience in APA Style referencing, although I feel comfortable with any style.
Why I became an editor
I studied modern arts with French at university, which included linguistics and literature, and I had to write many essays in two different languages. I went on to work in a variety of challenging secretarial and administrative roles. Proofreading is the perfect way to utilise my skills, as it demands clarity, accuracy, and a great eye for detail.
Background and experience
I feel fully equipped to succeed as a proofreader, as my entire working life has been centred on communication and the importance of accuracy. I’ve worked as part of the marketing team at GE Aero Engines, worked in a variety of roles at Granada TV, and as an administrator in the English department of a large high school.
Why I love proofreading and editing
Proofreading offers me the chance to be flexible and work within diverse areas. It's so satisfying to improve a piece of writing and allow the ideas of the author to shine.
Favorite book:
Guernica by Dave Boling
Hobbies:
I have an intense love for cake, so I have to keep pretty active. Dog walks are more leisurely now that my chocolate labrador is twelve, so I walk solo for miles and play tennis three times a week.
Editing tips:
Depending on the length of the document, I sometimes find it useful to print out a hard copy. It frees me from the screen for a while and allows me to add notes and comments for myself.
