Why I became an editor
I studied English language and literature, and I have always enjoyed learning more about the written word. My other passions are in business and marketing. Proofreading allows me to combine these interests while helping others to successfully promote their businesses.
Background and experience
I have worked in many roles that involved an element of proofreading. I have extensive experience with producing resumes, marketing copy, and job descriptions. I have also edited and updated the policies and procedures of businesses and educational establishments that I have worked with.
Why I love proofreading and editing
First, I love reading. To read another person's work and be their extra pair of eyes is a privilege. I also love to help others succeed, whether it be in business, academics, or in getting their book published.
Favorite book:
I am a big fan of Land of Roar by Jenny McLachlan, as are my children.
Hobbies:
When I'm not proofreading, I'm usually trying to keep my children entertained. We love to get outside and have adventures.
Editing tips:
I find it very useful to read the work out loud and work sentence-by-sentence. However, this is not ideal in a coffee shop, so I tend to work at home most of the time.
