Favorite referencing style
APA referencing is great. I love how it has its own quirky set of rules!
Why I became an editor
Having worked as an English teacher for over 20 years, I have been proofreading and editing for most of my life! I love the satisfaction I get from helping someone to make the most of their hard work: your ideas, not your mistakes, should be what make an impression.
Background and experience
As a teacher for over 20 years, I have worked with thousands of young people. My role encompassed working with both fiction and non-fiction writing, such as creative writing and university applications. I have also worked as an examiner, so I am used to working against deadlines. As a freelance proofreader, I have worked on several academic undergraduate theses, as well as the program for an internationally known sporting event and several websites.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I love the sense of privilege that comes with proofreading. Being entrusted with someone's precious job application, website material, or thesis carries a real responsibility, but it is so satisfying to help somebody achieve their very best outcome.
Favorite book:
I love crime fiction. Elly Griffiths is my current go-to author. She writes engaging plots with an evocative sense of place and super characters.
Hobbies:
When I'm not proofreading, you will probably find me out walking my two dogs or tucked up on the sofa with a good book (or crossword) and a mug of tea!
Editing tips:
Using the search function is invaluable as a timesaver, and an extra pair of eyes can help spot regular errors.
