Why I became an editor
I love language. I enjoy teaching it as a foreign language tutor. I become immersed in it when writing as an author. I loved employing it as a lawyer before having a career change after time out to raise a family.
Background and experience
I am a non-practising solicitor and former management consultant. I have had a lengthy career break to raise a family and be a carer. I've completed the Becoming A Proofreader course and a TEFL Advanced Diploma at Level 5 with i-to-i TEFL in 2021. I'm really looking forward to using my varied life experience to proofread and edit all sorts of documents. I also write creatively in genre fiction and have a book review blog, John C Adams Reviews.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I love being able to help people with their writing. When we put pen to paper or start tapping away at our keyboard, we really give all of ourselves. That can feel daunting at times. This is every bit as true for a student with a big assignment due as it is for a writer penning their future blockbuster. I really enjoy helping anyone producing a written document to fulfil their dreams. I never lose sight of just how important that document can be. A proofreader is a friend for that journey.
Favorite book:
Pale Fire by Vladimir Nabokov.
Hobbies:
I run a book blog, John C Adams Reviews, and I also write fantasy and horror fiction.
Editing tips:
Don't be afraid to take your time. Search out the answers by doing your research and always come back to the document at least one more time.
