“Taking your writing to the next level.”
Specialist subjects:
Education:
BA in Psychology
University of Pretoria
1974–1977
Favorite referencing style
My favorite referencing style is APA, mostly because that is the one I am most familiar with.
Why I became an editor
My aspiration has always been to help people become the very best they can be in all aspects of their lives. Proofreading gives me the opportunity to do that, albeit in a small way.
Background and experience
After completing my BA in psychology, I was involved in personnel recruitment and marketing, and I even tried my hand at teaching high school students. When I became a chef and cookery teacher, recipe writing was a huge part of my job. Fortunately, I have always loved grammar and languages. Plus, I am a perfectionist. Therefore, writing a cookbook, where clarity is of the utmost importance, was challenging but very much achievable.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I have a keen eye for detail, so I love picking up errors and correcting them.
Favorite book:
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.
Hobbies:
I love cooking, running, walking, bird watching, and tree hugging – in fact, anything to do with nature.
Editing tips:
The most important thing for me is to take it slowly and read through the document sentence by sentence.
