BA in Sociology Cleveland State University 2007–2011
I am partial to APA and MLA referencing because they are the styles that I used the most while writing my own papers in college.
I began my future career as a proofreader when I was in college. While I was studying, I liked to proofread my own work and the work of my fellow students. I became known as the dorm proofreader. After college, I worked in medicine and education, and I found both to be very rewarding. In both careers, I enjoyed any projects that involved writing and reading the most. Proofreading is an ideal job for me because I can use my knowledge of different subjects to help improve the writing of others.
I worked as an aesthetician for a plastic surgeon’s office while I attended college. My favorite time was when I could study medical journals about human biology and anatomy. The doctor that I worked for would ask me to proofread for him also. When my daughter was about three years old, I took a job as a pre-school teacher. One main reason for this change in career was to explore my interest in education. I took great pride in helping my daughter and the other children learn how to read and write.
What I love the most about proofreading is the sense of accomplishment I feel after having helped someone perfect their writing. Since I have experience in diverse subjects, such as human biology and anatomy, sociology, health, and English, I know that I can be of benefit to many different people in society.

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë.
When I am not proofreading, I like to hike, make crafts with my daughter, and cook for my family.
Before I open a document, I make sure that I have a checklist. This way, I don't forget anything when I proofread.
