Why I became an editor

Words have been my world for as long as I can remember. They are the common thread through a tapestry of life experiences, including journalism, church leadership, adult education and drama.
Editing lets me offer the breadth of this experience for the benefit of others. I love removing barriers so that a writer can connect most effectively with their readers.

Background and experience

I have worked as a newspaper reporter and published a non-fiction book in popular theology. In over 20 years as a pastor, I prepared and delivered more than 1,000 talks for churches and seminars. I have enjoyed helping to develop writers through teaching English, literacy and communication to adult students, hotel workers and prisoners. I have written for businesses, websites and voluntary organisations and was a contributing author for a book on Christian ministry in Ireland published in 2020.

Why I love proofreading and editing

I know what it's like to try to get a message across and how frustrating it is when errors get in the way of great communication. My particular interests are the arts, culture, social sciences, international development and religion.
