Favorite referencing style

Chicago is my favorite, as I have used it the most in my studies so far.

Why I became an editor

I have always loved reading and will take any opportunity to buy a new or pre-loved book for my collection. When I began my studies at university, my passion for reading and learning grew. This led me to studying linguistics and history subjects and devouring language. As a music teacher, reading music is about looking at the details and uncovering the intended meaning from the composer.

Background and experience

My background includes working as a music teacher.

Why I love proofreading and editing

I love reading a piece of writing and learning about the author through their work. I am interested in proofreading anything that allows me to learn and discover, with a special interest in music, the arts, history, and linguistics. Along with formal academic texts, I also enjoy proofreading fiction and non-fiction novels. I have worked with different styles of referencing, and I feel confident with academic referencing in general.

Favorite book:

Cross Stitch by Diana Gabaldon—I found this book at a garage sale my dad was having and I have now read it, and the rest of the series, many times.

Hobbies:

When I'm not proofreading, I am either studying, teaching, hanging out with my daughter, playing piano, gardening, or looking after one of my many animals.

Editing tips:

First, I like to read the whole document to get a sense of the subject and the author's voice. As I read, I either highlight or make notes about issues I will need to return to.
