Favorite referencing style
APA is my favorite reference style because it's so concise and clear!
Why I became an editor
I developed a love of languages and of helping people with their English while studying in college. I initially volunteered to tutor ESL students, and eventually I earned a master’s in teaching ESL. I loved helping learners improve their language abilities, and proofreading and editing were skills that I honed. I later took on the role of editing professional papers and presentations for my colleagues, and I learned graphic design to assist in creating fully polished works for publication.
Background and experience
I worked as an operations associate and creative designer at the Graduate School of Education at Stanford University.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I am extremely detail-oriented, and I greatly enjoy perfecting the grammar, punctuation, and nuances of English. Having studied education, education policy, linguistics, and graphic design, I have extensive experience in APA formatting as well as MLA and Chicago styles.
Favorite book:
The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle is my favorite book.
Hobbies:
When I'm not proofreading, I can often be found listening to medieval music, journaling, or drawing.
Editing tips:
I will always read through a document first before editing it to get a feel for the author’s tone and the nature of the content.
