Favorite referencing style

APA and Bluebook are my favorite referencing styles because they are the ones that I use most frequently.

Why I became an editor

I clerked for a judge after law school and came out with a passion for writing and editing. I always loved fantasy novels and graphic novels as a reader, but the skills I developed convinced me that I could become a creator and help others tell their stories. My writing skills from law school and my clerkship made it clear that I could proofread and edit broader categories of work as well. Editing is my passion, and I hope to use it to help others create their best work.

Background and experience

In my clerkship, I frequently wrote, proofread, and edited judicial orders in complex criminal, civil, and family cases. This work normally involved reading hundreds of documents per case. I also run a role-playing game with a group of four players. As the game runner, I write fantasy settings and assist my players in developing their characters, arcs, and plot points.

Why I love proofreading and editing

We all can get excited when trying to communicate a subject we enjoy, and our message might get lost for our audience. I love assisting someone to retrieve their perfect story or convey their perfect message through that fog. I especially enjoy proofreading and editing fictional stories or non-fiction regarding politics, history, and law. My skills and experience lend themselves best to fiction, academic writing, and business writing.

Our expert proofreaders have you covered.

Favorite book:

My favorite book is actually a comic book: Mister Miracle by Tom King. King takes the most fantastical set of characters in the DC Comics Universe and tells a story about romance and PTSD.

Hobbies:

When I'm not proofreading, I'm either at the park hanging out with friends or reading, at the movies, designing costumes for conventions, or hiking.

Editing tips:

I’ll skim through the document to understand the author’s message and personal voice. Once I finish, I begin proofreading and editing with those larger ideas in mind.
