Why I became an editor
I have always had a passion for reading and writing. While studying philosophy and politics at university, I realized that I have a natural penchant for editing and proofreading. As a proofreader, I love having the opportunity to read academic essays and help the authors to perfect their work.
Background and experience
Prior to working for Proofed, I worked as a freelance proofreader.
Why I love proofreading and editing
As a proofreader, I love taking a great piece of writing and helping the author to perfect it. I studied politics and philosophy at university, so I especially love reading about those subjects and hearing the perspectives of people from different backgrounds. Proofreading allows me to read about interesting subjects while also getting to proof-edit those works to perfection.
Favorite book:
A Guide for the Perplexed by Ernst F. Schumacher
Hobbies:
I enjoy reading, playing guitar, and traveling. I am also learning to speak French, so I spend a lot of my spare time practicing French and watching French TV shows.
Editing tips:
I find it useful to read aloud. This is a great way to pick up on errors that the scanning eye might miss.
