Favorite referencing style

I prefer APA style because I have the most experience with it.

Why I became an editor

While completing my two degrees, I took a wide variety of courses, from religious studies to neuroscience to cultural anthropology. I loved reading and writing about as many topics as possible. Between my studies, I spent a lot of time travelling, which led me to pursue a career as an English teacher and study different languages. These days, I spend a lot of time proofreading my ESL students' writing, and I enjoy helping them sound natural and professional.

Background and experience

I have been teaching English to students of a variety of ages and levels for five years. Part of my role is teaching ESL students how to improve their writing skills and correcting papers.

For six years, I have been a volunteer proofreader for articles published by an English-language learner in the field of physics.

Why I love proofreading and editing

I enjoy freeing a piece of writing from the distractions of errors and inconsistencies so that the essential information is communicated effectively. I particularly enjoy correcting ESL documents because I understand the difficulties of learning another language and have experience with this type of writing.

Want to save time on your content editing?

Our expert proofreaders have you covered.

Favorite book:

I have many favourite books, but my number one has to be Harry Potter. It makes me feel like a kid again and is always the first book I read in another language when I have a high enough level.

Hobbies:

When I am not proofreading, I enjoy reading, studying languages, playing the cello, and travelling.

Editing tips:

I enlarge the document so that I can focus on each word and punctuation mark individually. Then I zoom out and check the sentences and grammar. With each read, I focus on a different element.
