Why I became an editor
I've lived in South Korea for over seven years. During this time, a company approached me and asked me to help proofread English books for student learners. That job is what got me interested in proofreading. I find the work to be meaningful, and I enjoy helping others.
Background and experience
I taught English to Korean students and adults for a few years. After which, I taught high school math for 3.5 years. I've been proofreading English books for Korean elementary students for a few years.
Why I love proofreading and editing
When I began studying proofreading, I enjoyed learning all the rules for punctuation and grammar. Knowing how and when to apply the rules and knowing when to bend them is something that I love about proofreading. It keeps me challenged and engaged. I also find great satisfaction in correcting mistakes.
Favorite book:
If I Had Your Face by Frances Cha is my favorite book.
Hobbies:
When I'm not proofreading, I can be found weightlifting, entertaining my cats, or cycling.
Editing tips:
I often come back to a document after some time has passed. I find that rereading it with fresh eyes helps me to spot what I missed the first time around.
