Favorite referencing style

If I had to pick, I would say APA and MLA—simply because I’ve had the most experience with those two.

Why I became an editor

I was raised by an educator and a history buff, which led me to a career as a history teacher. My undergraduate degree in history and political science involved four years of reading, writing, and re-writing. A graduate degree in education, along with my experience in the classroom and other professional roles, gave me a knack for helping others hone their writing skills. Proofreading provides me with work I enjoy and am well-equipped to do. That’s my story—I would love to help you tell yours!

Why I love proofreading and editing

Even the best of ideas can get buried underneath bad grammar—which is why I love helping writers improve the clarity and readability of their work, ensuring their ideas can shine through. My background and interests lean towards history, politics, religion, and education, but I’m happy to assist with writing on any subject.

Favorite book:

The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas.

Hobbies:

When I’m not proofreading, you can find me reading (for fun!), playing tennis, re-watching The Office, and going/dragging my family on neighborhood walks.

Editing tips:

As I’m nearing the end of my edits, I always like to re-read the document backwards. This helps me catch errors I may have missed, as the brain tends to skim even on the most careful readings!
