APA is my favorite because the topics written in APA style are interesting.
Why I became an editor
When the world is going through difficult, unpredictable times, there is one thing we always have control over: our language.
I’m in awe of how we use language to transmit ideas, express creativity, influence others, and so much more. I’ve been an avid reader my whole life and have always been observant of the details. I want to help others improve their writing and maintain their meaning in a professional manner.
Background and experience
I studied psychology, which often required the use of APA formatting. I read numerous articles for research purposes and wrote with this style. I did some proofreading work during this time, and I have additional experience with the Chicago and MLA styles.
Later, I served as a reading corps tutor, which involved teaching and correcting grammar for ESL students.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I love to read about different subjects, especially psychology. It’s personally fulfilling to do the final read-through and find that the writing is clear, concise, and flowing.
Favorite book:
The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas
Hobbies:
When I’m not proofreading, I go for walks and absorb as much fresh air and sunshine as possible. I keep a pair of binoculars on hand for bird watching too.
Editing tips:
It’s helpful to take short breaks from proofreading so that your eyes are always fresh.
