Meet Stacey Colella, one of more than 750 editors in Proofed’s global network. Based between Australia and Singapore, Stacey is part of the international team behind the 24/7 editorial support Proofed provides to clients worldwide.
With editors across multiple countries and time zones, Proofed can build tailored teams to match each client’s needs, whether that means subject matter expertise, familiarity with a particular style guide, or coverage across time zones.
Stacey’s path into editing began after several years working part-time as an ESL teacher. Looking for another way to apply her interest in language, she completed proofreading and editing courses with Knowadays, our educational partner, before joining Proofed as a freelancer.
She says her favourite thing about working for Proofed is the flexibility to work on her own schedule and from any location – a quality that really matters when you divide your time between two countries. When she’s not editing, you’ll find Stacey reading, baking, playing pickleball, or exploring new restaurants.
I’ve been working part-time as an ESL teacher for a few years and wanted another way to apply my interest in language, so proofreading seemed like a natural fit. The Knowadays courses were a great introduction and confirmed I’d found the right fit.
My favourite thing is the flexibility, as I can work on my own schedule and from any location. The other things I think are great about working for Proofed are the variety of projects and topics, and even though it’s a remote role, I feel really supported.
Australia and Singapore.
I love to read, in fact, I am in a book club with my sister that has been going for over 10 years. I also love to bake, drink coffee in the sunshine, do puzzles, play pickleball, try new restaurants, and travel.

Living in Singapore, I sometimes feel like I already own exotic pets. Regular visitors to my condo include monkeys, otters, monitor lizards, snakes, and recently, a peacock.
Pasta! There are so many different shapes, types, and dishes that I’d never get bored, plus I know how to make it, so that helps.
Definitely beach vacation. Words can’t describe how happy I feel at the beach, whether lying in the sun reading a book or taking a swim in the sea. Extra points if it’s an Italian beach.
