Favorite referencing style
I personally love MLA referencing. It's the one I'm the most familiar with, and it just always looks and feels great to use.
Why I became an editor
Writing has always been a huge part of my life. I studied creative writing in various forms in both English and Spanish at Sarah Lawrence College. I continued to help others with their essays in college and eventually found my way to proofreading. Nothing feels better than nailing a perfect sentence and helping others gain the skills to improve their writing abilities.
Background and experience
In college, I wrote a lot of essays, and I continue to take writing classes for fiction writing. I've written two fantasy books and am currently working on my third. Aside from proofreading, I also work as a copywriter for environmentally focused businesses, where I write marketing copy.
Why I love proofreading and editing
There's nothing better than the feeling of nailing a perfect sentence and watching someone's ideas come to life in a clear, organized way. I find this especially true with thesis statements in essays. It sets the tone for the entire essay and was often my favorite part of writing essays throughout high school and college. When I can help others feel confident in their own work, it's the most amazing feeling.
Favorite book:
The Crescent City novels by Sarah J Maas are my favorite books.
Hobbies:
If not proofreading, you can find me writing fantasy, cuddling with my cats, marathoning The Lord of the Rings, and (im)patiently waiting for the New York Islanders to win the Stanley Cup again.
Editing tips:
I start by reading the document through and fixing obvious errors. Then I dive back in and make the more specific changes. Reading aloud is also helpful.
