Why I became an editor
I have always had a love of language, especially the written form. I devoured books from an early age and continue to read widely. Current affairs and global politics are a fascination of mine, and I read news articles and opinion pieces on these subjects daily. In a world where misinformation is rife, clear, concise writing is critical. Proofreading gives me the opportunity to help writers communicate effectively.
Background and experience
I have over twenty years of experience in construction management in both the UK and Australia. I also have five years of experience teaching English and learning Chinese in China. I speak and read Chinese (simplified) to an HSK4 (B2) level, Indonesian to a B2 level, and elementary Russian.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I love polishing documents to make them shine.
Favorite book:
The Winter King by Bernard Cornwell.
Hobbies:
When I'm not proofreading, I'm usually cycling, hiking, at the gym, or learning another language. I also love to scuba dive, travel, and just hang out with my cats.
Editing tips:
I like to skim a document first to get a feel for the tone, then go back and start to dig into it
