Favorite referencing style
I do not have a strong preference for one or the other, but I tend to use Chicago or APA, as they are common styles and pretty intuitive!
Why I became an editor
When I was in middle school, I was blessed to have an English teacher who inspired me to grow as a writer. My writing skills continued to develop throughout high school, and in college, I enjoyed taking a variety of creative writing courses alongside my science major.
I believe that proofreading and editing are essential to the quality and impact of our written work. I look forward to helping those who invest in proofreading and editing services reap the benefits of doing so.
Background and experience
Academically, I have written countless research reports, essays, and personal statements. I have also written and contributed to peer-reviewed articles and manuscripts for publication.
Professionally, I serve as a lead editor on an in-house editing team that reviews numerous research documents.
Voluntarily, I have helped numerous people revise personal statements, essays, resumes, and other content.
All of these experiences have endeared me to the value of proofreading and editing services.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I really enjoy reading and clarifying the thoughts, ideas, and findings of other writers and helping them maximize the impact of their work. Finding and addressing small errors is a wonderful way to help others take the quality of their work to the next level.
Favorite book:
My favorite book by far is the Bible, written by so many inspired authors over thousands of years. It remains a best seller and is part of my daily reading practice.
Hobbies:
When I am not proofreading, I may be working as a project manager, helping families plan for their birth and postpartum experiences as a doula, or learning more about new interests.
Editing tips:
Once I have completed several rounds of proofreading and offering comments, before I finalize a document, I like to use Microsoft Word's "Read Aloud" feature to catch small details I may have missed.
