Why I became an editor

Growing up as a bookworm, English and languages were my strongest subjects at school, so it made sense for me to study linguistics at university. This taught me the in-depth science of language and how to analyze it, which truly fascinated me. Throughout my academic life, I was asked to help proofread work for my friends, so I decided to turn it into a career!

Proofreading is a great outlet for my skills, and I love the satisfaction of helping people achieve their best work.

Background and experience

In January 2022, I completed the Proofreading Academy course, Becoming A Proofreader, with a distinction grade.
I did some editing and proofreading work at university as well, for which I received the highest degree classifications.
Outside of proofreading, I have job experience in admin, healthcare, and research. All of these required a high attention to detail and strict observance of rules and deadlines.

Why I love proofreading and editing

I love proofreading because helping people to produce the best version of their work is incredibly fulfilling. Moreover, it requires a combination of the things I'm best at: reading, writing, and language.
I am extremely familiar with essay writing in the arts, humanities, and social sciences, and I have a lot of experience using Harvard, APA, and the Linguistics Unified Style Sheet for referencing.
