APA is my favorite.
Why I became an editor
I am a writer and voracious reader, and proofreading felt like a natural extension of those interests. I decided to take an editing course, and it was exactly what I needed. It is something very different from my other jobs, and I am looking forward to helping others be the best they can be with their writing.
Background and experience
I am a voracious reader and have been writing since I was very young. While I have no formal, post-secondary training, I have always enjoyed words and the English language, and have a natural curiosity about many things. I am a member of a writing group, I read and write (informal) reviews of books, and I love to learn.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I love words and making everything clean and tidy. Learning about new things, making sure all the little details are taken care of, and sending a polished piece back is a satisfying accomplishment.
Favorite book:
Recently, The Unexpected Inheritance of Inspector Chopra by Vaseem Khan has been my favorite.
Hobbies:
I love to read, write, walk, bake, watch mysteries and movies (police procedurals like Vera, Midsummer Murders, Endeavour, etc.), and spend time in the New Forest with the ponies.
Editing tips:
I have a checklist so that nothing is missed, and I work slowly so that I don't overlook or miss anything important.
