Favorite referencing style
My favorite referencing style is APA because it was the primary style used in my criminal justice courses.
Why I became an editor
After completing my university studies, I developed a passion for teaching English as a second language. I first taught English at a summer camp in Spain, and then went on to teach online classes. Though teaching pronunciation and cultural concepts is fun, I became a certified proofreader to better understand the intricacies of my language.
Proofreading helps me connect the old with the new. It strengthens my current field of practice and allows me to venture into the broader editing world.
Background and experience
In 2021, I worked at a law office as an administrative specialist and coordinator. My main tasks were to present lawsuits, briefs, and urgent documents to courthouses across Spain.
Since 2016, I have completed over 150 hours of teaching English in both online and face-to-face classes with children and adults.
I’ve worked as a regional soccer referee since 2011, both at the youth and semi-professional levels, which has taught me how to maintain a professional demeanor in stressful moments.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I am a passionate learner and I enjoy food-for-thought information. Through proofreading and editing, I am able to analyze and implement the framework needed for a piece of writing to flow. My biggest interests are in sports, teaching, and societal justice. However, my curiosity has no bounds. My prior studies gave me experience in the APA and MLA referencing styles.
Favorite book:
My favorite book is 12 Rules for Life by Jordan B. Peterson because it aligns closely with my favorite quote: "Make order out of chaos."
Hobbies:
When I am not proofreading, I am refereeing soccer, as it is my work, passion, and hobby all bundled up into one!
Editing tips:
Before starting, I like to skim the document for anything unfamiliar, such as sections/quotes/tables that I have not worked with before and will require more of my attention.
