Favorite referencing style
I enjoy MLA referencing, mostly because that's what I used throughout my college career while obtaining my English degree.
Why I became an editor
I have wanted to be an Editor since I was a child, enjoying any subjects that allowed me to read and/or write, while tutoring others on the side. I love reading and writing, and truly enjoy the process of not only getting my thoughts on paper, but also reading other people's work. Editing allows me to help others become the best writers they can be, while also improving my own writing in the process.
Background and experience
I've worked as a tutor since 2014, helping others in English, Writing, and Reading. I've also helped friends and family by proofreading and/or editing papers, articles, web pages, etc. over the past eight years, and have recently started beta reading for self-employed authors. At university, I worked on my school newspaper as well, writing various articles about the intricacies of college life and life in Denver.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I love reading other people's work and helping them make it the best it can be. While proofreading and/or editing, I see the intentions of the writer, and I love helping them to take their writing to the next level. I enjoy working in anything that has to do with communications, media, English, music, criminology, psychology, and sociology, but I'm also always open to learning about new subjects. I have a lot of experience with MLA and APA referencing as well.
Favorite book:
Rather than pick a favorite book, my favorite genre is paranormal. I love the imagination, world-building, and dynamic characters within this genre.
Hobbies:
I love reading, watching television/movies, hanging out with my friends and family, listening to music, and most of all, playing with my dog who I adore.
Editing tips:
I do a quick read through to get an idea of the subject, writer's voice, and any errors that immediately jump out at me. I focus on preserving the tone and intended message.
