Why I became an editor
I had a difficult time deciding on a college major because I find so many subjects fascinating. I took courses in art, philosophy, history, religious studies, chemistry, literature, and more. I loved them all!
With proofreading, I have the opportunity to continue learning while also helping writers succeed. I am passionate about precision, and I enjoy polishing others' work.
Background and experience
Outside of Proofed, I have had a variety of editing experiences. My position of over seven years has involved writing and editing scripts, reflections, newsletters, social media posts, and announcements. I have created, edited, and formatted countless documents and visual aids.
My prior work involved some writing and editing, as well, and I attended a liberal arts college, which demanded excellence in writing. There, I became comfortable with APA, MLA, and Chicago styles.
Why I love proofreading and editing
To me, proofreading is both fascinating and satisfying. I get the opportunity to learn something new, and I get to leverage my problem solving nature to perfect the writing. I love reading many different subjects; variety is exciting!
Favorite book:
“The Catcher in the Rye” by J.D. Salinger.
Hobbies:
When I'm not proofreading, I will most likely be playing with my daughter or practicing the piano.
Editing tips:
Make your software work for you! After I have proofread the document once, I use the search feature to find things I may have missed.
