Favorite referencing style
I love the AP style. It is simple to master and easy to read. What more could you want?
Why I became an editor
Writing has always been my passion. I studied creative writing in college, and I still participate in writing workshops and peer editing groups. I have worked as a developmental editor, copy editor, and proofreader for Cleaver Magazine since January 2020. This work truly brings me joy.
Background and experience
I am a confident writer, editor, and proofreader. From 2014 to 2016, I worked at HarperCollins Publishers, where I worked in book publicity. I planned media campaigns and book tours for authors, wrote press releases, and solicited book reviews from major publications, all of which required me to draw up finely tuned written material. Since 2020, I have worked as a fiction editor for Cleaver Magazine. I’ve also done proofreading for Cinamon Games and an app called Maybe: Interactive Stories.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I love being able to help clients sharpen a piece of writing into its final, brilliant form. I am especially drawn to creative writing and the humanities, including social work, education, art, and history. I have extensive experience with MLA, having used it in my own studies, and I'm experienced in Chicago, APA, and AP.
Favorite book:
I don't have a specific favorite book; however, there will always be a place in my heart for The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
Hobbies:
When I'm not proofreading, I’m most likely at the movies, exploring a new neighborhood, reading, or spending time with my two cats.
Editing tips:
When I open a document, I always give it a quick read to get a sense of the tone, style, and voice. After proofreading once, I go through the document and proofread it again.
