Favorite referencing style

My favorite referencing style is APA, but I am happy to work with any style whatsoever.

Why I became an editor

As a result of studying philosophy in my undergraduate years and engaging with classic works of Western civilization, I become enamored by the written word. This fascination has only increased over the years and inspired me to move overseas to become an English teacher, which I did for five years. Proofreading seems like the perfect opportunity for me to continue honing the skills I’ve developed, and I look forward to helping my clients express themselves with clarity, accuracy, and grace.

Background and experience

After receiving my bachelor's degree, I lived and worked in Thailand for five years as an English teacher for speakers of other languages. Upon returning to the United States, I decided to pursue further education and am currently working towards a master's degree. In addition to academia, I am employed as the general manager of a kava bar in the Southwestern United States.

Why I love proofreading and editing

I love working with people to bring out their personal voice in whatever kind of document they may be working on. To me, nothing is more satisfying than collaborating with writers by helping them to express themselves in the most refined and accurate manner possible. I have gained a lot of experience proofreading academic work, but I am also comfortable proofreading business and technical writing and creative pieces.

Favorite book:

“VALIS” by Philip K. Dick

Hobbies:

When I'm not proofreading, I'm usually busy working or studying. If I have any free time, however, you can usually find me playing drums, taking photos, and cooking Thai food.

Editing tips:

I like to fix any errors related to punctuation and grammar before reflecting more intently upon the tone and style of the author to help them fully express the particularities of their voice.
