Favorite referencing style

The APA referencing style is my favorite because it's the one I was trained on in my studies.

Why I became an editor

My prior career paths have primarily been in sales and customer service. In choosing a new career path, I wanted to do something I loved. I love helping others, I love learning new things, and I love reading. After meditating on potential avenues for my career, I decided proofreading and editing would allow me to do what I love most.

Background and experience

I worked as a laborer in a glass factory, in retail as a clerk, and as a key manager in a pharmacy. I worked for 16 years as a sales consultant and customer service representative for a major cellular company in the US. I was later employed by a major merchandising company to work at Walmart locations to place products and perform audits. I also owned and operated a cleaning and errand service for approximately four years. I loved being my own boss.

Why I love proofreading and editing

I love reading others' work. I’m amazed by people's knowledge and creativity in their writings. While I enjoy reading others' writings, I also enjoy helping the author make their paper flawless. After proofreading a document, I feel a sense of accomplishment that I helped the author somehow. I also love expanding my mind in greater knowledge through courses and manuals that equip me with the tools to be a proficient editor and proofreader.

Hobbies:

I love spending time with my children and grandchildren. My husband and I enjoy camping in the mountains, at lakes, and on beaches. We enjoy hiking and spending time in nature.

Editing tips:

For me, it’s important to slow down and read the instructions or the style sheet thoroughly. This keeps me from making mistakes, which keeps my frustration down.
